Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam announced on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 that current Department of Revenue Commissioner, Richard Roberts, will be leaving the administration effective December 2, 2016. Commissioner Roberts was appointed in January 2011, following an extensive career as an attorney and corporate executive. In the official announcement, Governor Haslam thanked Commissioner Roberts for his service, stating that “Richard has been a valuable part of our administration, creating programs that have benefited taxpayers, streamlining processes for businesses, and providing his department the tools it needs to be more effective. I especially appreciate that Richard has also looked at the long-term needs of the department which will benefit the state for years to come.” There is no news yet on who may be appointed as successor to Commissioner Roberts.
