Mark "Andy" Pitchford

Andy Pitchford is a registered U.S. patent attorney with experience in all facets of U.S. and international patent law. Andy concentrates his practice on developing patent filing strategies, filing patent applications, managing existing patent portfolios, acquiring trademarks, evaluating existing patents for acquisition, licensing patents to third parties, advising on patentability and infringement issues, and enforcing intellectual property rights.  His areas of technical expertise include analog, digital and mixed signal circuits, medical devices, electronic controllers, mechanical devices, AC power generators, fossil fuel and green technologies, software applications and Internet platforms. Additionally, Andy has considerable biotechnology and life sciences experience involving nanotechnology, optics, particle detection spectrography and tissue repair scaffolding.

Andy enjoys working closely with clients and being on the cutting edge of new technology as it is developed. To best serve clients, Andy strives to understand the systems that companies utilize – from their business plans to their manufacturing processes. With this insight, Andy is able to provide effective counsel on how a client’s intellectual property strategy and portfolio intersect with its short- and long-term business objectives. In addition to securing patent and trademark protection for clients, Andy provides advice on patentability and infringement issues for new products under development. He also prepares intellectual property clearance and freedom to operate opinions in order for clients to proceed with confidence as they develop and market new products or when companies are evaluating acquisitions of  business units with existing intellectual property rights. He also assists clients in patent licensing matters and enforcing intellectual property rights.

Up Close

Like the clients he represents, Andy enjoys the process of design and construction. When he’s away from the office he can usually be found remodeling his house, building furniture or modifying a car. Andy and his wife are raising three sons.
