Tera Rica Murdock

Tera Rica Murdock has gained a reputation as a skillful litigator and an effective advocate in complex commercial, business, and employment disputes. Tera Rica has extensive trial experience. She has been second chair in jury trials and bench trials in both state and federal court as well as in private arbitrations.

She has both prosecuted and defended claims of breach of contract in the financial services, manufacturing, and healthcare industries. Whether enforcing a contract on its terms, recovering damages, or defending against these claims, Tera Rica has the experience needed to advocate for businesses while respecting their organizational objectives.

Tera Rica has also defended financial institutions and family offices, as well as their officers, directors, and trustees, against claims of breach of fiduciary duty and breach of trust. Clients count on Tera Rica to craft strategies for resolution which preserve relationships while keeping in accordance with the terms of the trust instrument.

Additionally, she is experienced in the representation of management in the manufacturing industry in all aspects of employment law. She has litigated complex multi-plaintiff claims involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, assisted companies in enforcing non-compete agreements, and defended businesses against alleged violations of federal and state employment law.

Tera Rica is a member of Waller’s E-Discovery and Data Management Initiative. She advises clients on how to control e-discovery expenses by implementing pre-litigation information governance and retention strategies. During litigation, Tera Rica provides advice concerning defensible approaches to meeting discovery obligations while managing cost.

Tera Rica was recognized by the Tennessee Supreme Court in both 2014 and 2015 as an Attorney for Justice for the pro bono legal services she provides through the Legal Aid Society. Since 2013, Tera Rica has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star, a peer-driven recognition for outstanding attorneys who have been in practice for 10 years or less. In 2012, Tera Rica was honored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as one of Nashville’s Top 30 Under 30 Professionals for her philanthropic involvement, exemplary leadership qualities, and professional success as an attorney.

Tera Rica enjoys international travel, in part due to her love of foreign language. She speaks Spanish and French, and has lived in Spain, Mexico, and France. She recently took a semester of Portuguese classes before going on a family trip to Brazil.
